JIM OLSON
Chairman of the Board

Jim Olson is the Owner of Northwest Fasteners and has served for nearly fifteen years on the South Sound Christian School District board. Jim is a former Tacoma Baptist Schools student and all three of his children attended and graduated from TBS. Now, three generations later, his grandchildren are attending. Jim has run the Boston Marathon and is a former TBS Cross Country Coach.


DR. KEN ALFORD
Vice Chairman

Dr. Ken Alford, D.Min., earned his degree from the Northwest Graduate School of Ministry and his M.A. from Northwest Baptist Seminary. He also holds a B.A. from Cedarville University. Ken is a Major in the U.S. Army (Currently Mobilized at Ft Lewis) and serves as chaplain to thousands of soldiers who seek his counsel. He founded and is the current Pastor of Family Baptist Fellowship in Graham, WA. Prior to God's call to Graham, he served as Pastor of First Baptist Church of Othello, WA and Assistant Pastor at Puyallup Community Baptist Church, Puyallup, WA. He also founded the Mid-Columbia Christian School. Ken is the father of five past and present SSCS students and has served in various roles as needed at TBS and New Hope. Ken is currently the much respected wrestling coach at Tacoma Baptist High School. Ken has been married to Debbie, an alumni of the TBS class of 1980, for 27 years.

TOM LIRAZAN
Board Secretary

Tom Lirazan was born in South Vietnam and lived there until April 1975. He immigrated to the United States and has lived in the Pierce County area for the last 34 years. Tom graduated from Lakes High School, WA; he has been married for fifteen years to TBS Alumna, Debbie Wells, class of ‘84. Tom has four children.   Three are students at New Hope; the fourth graduated from New Hope last year. Thomas is currently employed at World Vision, a Christian-based humanitarian relief organization, as a Senior Network Administrator. His past experience includes twelve years as a Voice/Data Network technician at Weyerhaeuser Co. and three years as a Technical Specialist for Verizon Communications. He is a member of Orting Community Baptist Church, where he serves as an Awana co-director and Audio/Visual technician.

RON NELSON
Board Treasurer

Ron Nelson is a consultant to Nelson Workflow Solutions. Ron recently sold InfoStream, a software development company to First American Title. He continues to consult with Workflow Solutions. He came to InfoStream from First Data Corporation (the largest bankcard processor in the world (FDC), where he was Vice President of Operations, General Manager of Credit Card Operations and President of one of its subsidiaries. Ron was CFO and then General Manager for a building materials company. Ron came to a commitment to the Lord later in life and is passionate about Christian education and the difference it makes in the life of students.

BRAD ACKERMAN
Member at Large

Brad Ackerman is Sales Manager for ZipLocal Advertising. Brad and his wife, Rhonda, raised three TBS graduates. He attended Perry Technical Institute - Graphics - Yakima, WA and Gonzaga University and City University - Spokane, WA. He has been involved at TBS for nine years and served on the board six years. He serves as deacon, adult Sunday School teacher, and member on the musical worship team at Mt. Tahoma Baptist Church; he has been an AWANA Commander and volunteer for special events. Mr. Ackerman enjoys golf, woodworking & going to yard sales with his wife.

JOSH NARAYAN
Member at Large

Josh Narayan is the Owner of West Coast Industries. He and his wife, Becky, are proud parents of a TBS graduate and a current TBS student. He currently coaches the high school girls’ basketball team at TBS. He is also a deacon at Puyallup Community Baptist Church and board member of Camp Gilead. Josh has been coaching and working with young people for over 30 years. In March of 2008 Josh received the "Coach of the Year" award from the Tacoma News Tribune.
