Elementary
Elementary

Many argue that the elementary years in the development of the child are the most critical in the life of an individual. At this stage of life young people are forming habits they will carry with them throughout the remainder of their lives.

Students are given instruction in a nurturing environment by Christian teachers who are positive role models. Students are taught critical character lessons in their daily Bible classes and weekly chapels. All subject matter is presented from a distinctly Christian, Biblical point of view. Biblical integration in all subject areas is conducted daily. This spiritual emphasis is characteristic at all levels of instruction throughout the district.

During the early elementary years, our students are given a strong foundation in reading. Our students learn to read beginning in pre-kindergarten using a strong phonics-based curriculum. By the early primary years our students have become proficient in what has been argued to be one of the most import life skills- Reading!

Our students begin writing beautifully in pre-kindergarten and continue to develop their ability in this critical discipline through their experience in our elementary school. Mathematics, a critical skill for success in many careers in our technological society, receives a high priority during these years. Students are given a solid foundation in mathematical skills, preparing them for advanced mathematical studies in our junior high and high school.

In addition to receiving a top notch education in these critical foundational skills, students will enjoy basic instruction in computers, art, music, physical education, and band.

You will find that our campus provides a safe, well equipped, properly monitored playground for student activity. The Tacoma Baptist Campus is equipped with a large, spacious gymnasium for numerous activities. Students also enjoy field trips that enhance their learning.

Building upon the solid foundation that has been established at the elementary level, we are now ready to begin nurturing the higher order thinking skills that accompany the intellectual development of students of this age level. This approach prepares our students for success as they seek God’s direction as they enter the next phase of their lives, whether it be college, vocational school, military, etc.

Throughout their secondary education students continue to receive solid instruction in the basic core subject matter of Bible, English, Math, History, Science, and Technology. In addition to the required core course of study, students are also given class options in critical areas such as art, foreign language, physical education, and the fine arts, equipping them with a well-rounded education.

Athletics can be a positive component in the overall training of the student. The reputation of our athletics program is highly regarded throughout the community. We offer opportunities for male and female students to maximize their physical talents in a Christian environment that reinforces the biblical values taught in the home.

Over 90% of our graduates pursue postsecondary education. Our graduates have been accepted into institutions such as Cedarville University, George Fox, MIT, Pepperdine, University of Washington, WestPoint Academy, and the Air Force Academy. Our alumni are serving the Lord successfully in areas such as engineering, education, law, technology, the pastorate, various vocational ministries, and more.

Visit a School and See for Yourself

We invite you to visit our school. You'll enjoy seeing classrooms, meeting teachers, viewing samples of students' work and experiencing the SSCS difference. While you may stop by unannounced, we encourage you to plan ahead so that we can set up a tour highlighting those areas of our campus which interest you the most. During the year, we also have several open house events, and we have several days when your child can come and visit our campus during school hours. A student tour guide will stay with your child to answer questions and show him around the school.
