JH/HS Boy's Basketball

Boy's Basketball - A Rich Tradition
Boys Basketball has been a sport since the 1970’s at Tacoma Baptist and has a rich tradition of competitive and spiritual success, playing in the State 2B championship game in 1991. Our team is coached by Rich Hamlin who has given the program great spiritual and competitive guidance. Our teams have achieved many league championships over the years and have participated in many district and state tournaments as well. Basketball provides a great opportunity for our athletes to demonstrate great spiritual attributes while being involved in interscholastic competition. Our goal is to continue that tradition, being very competitive and a solid testimony for Jesus Christ.
Head Coach Varsity Boy's Basketball: Rich Hamlin
Coach Hamlin grew up in the small Eastern Washington town of Colfax. He and his brothers grew up playing sports but it was basketball that soon became his favorite. The baseball program had great tradition and went to the State Tournament virtually every year. Colfax won state titles his sophomore and junior years and place 4th his senior season. After gradtuating from Pafici Lutheran University in 1984, he went on to teach and coach at Spanaway Lake High School. After four years he went into full-time vocational ministry, working at Youth for Christ. In 1997, while finishing his seminary degree (Trinity Theological Seminary), he became pastor of Evangelical Reformed Church, the position he holds to this day.
