JH/HS Boy's Wrestling

Wrestling

Wrestling is a relatively new sport at Tacoma Baptist, getting its start in the late 90’s.  Even though it is a sport without great longevity it is a sport with a rich and competitive tradition to it.  We have achieved league and regional awards and have steadily improved in our competitiveness at the State tournament.  Our team is coached by Ken Alford who, himself, has been honored with “Coach of the Year” honors, both at the league level and at the regional level.  Our wrestling team is known for its high level of wrestling ability and its great testimony.  The program is spoken of highly throughout the state as a program of high integrity and quality.

Head Coach: Ken Alford
Pastor Ken Alford grew up in Newport, a small northeastern logging town in Washington State.  Ken is a 1984 Highest Honors graduate of Cedarville College and a 1989 Summa Cum Laude graduate of the Northwest Baptist Seminary.  He completed his Doctor of Ministry at the Northwest Graduate School of the Ministry in April of 2002.  He has served as the Assistant Pastor of the Puyallup Community Baptist Church and the Senior Pastor of the First Baptist Church of Othello, Washington.  He currently enjoys pastoring Family Baptist Fellowship of Graham, Washington.  Ken serves as a chaplin in the United States Army Reserves.  In his capacity he deployed to Kuwait in 2004 and continues an active ministry among the military families at Ft. Lewis, WA.

We would like to congratulate our HS Wrestling team who took fifth place at State. We had 11 Wrestlers advance to State (one alternate). Below is a result of the State placers.

125 Howie Herdle 4th place
152 Stephen Talen 4th place

CONGRATULATIONS!
