SH Girl's Fast Pitch
Fast Pitch has been a sport at Tacoma Baptist since the late 90’s when it switched from Slow Pitch to Fast Pitch. Coach Larry Spooner heads up our team and does an excellent job of teaching and coaching the sport of Fast Pitch. Our girls are learning the sport and are learning to compete as well. Our team represents our school with quality and solid Christian character and continues to gain competitive respect as well.
Head Coach: Coach Larry Spooner
Larry Spooner grew up in Wisconsin where he enjoyed playing baseball, football and hockey. He started coaching hockey as a Junior in High School when he assisted the local select team coach. Larry started coaching girl's Fast Pitch 9 years ago when his daughters select team needed a coach (He had no idea what he was doing or what he was getting himself into.) "After helping my daughter's select team through a city championship, 8th at NSA Nationals, 17th at ASA Nationals, and spending hours at clinics, I began to gain a feel for coaching girls. " Larry started coaching High School Fast Pitch at LCS where he coached for two years. The summer of 2002 he ran into Jim Hunter at Sprinker and started to talk Fast Pitch with him and little did he know, he would be getting a call the following spring to coach the TBS Fast Pitch team. Larry Spooner will be starting his 6th year at TBS and they are already off to a good start in 2008 and have high hopes for the year.
